Mathsplus has a range of lesson topics and grades so that every week holds multiple lessons that would benefit every learner.
How we do it?
We keep things simple
- Find out what our students do not know.
- Teach it to them.
- Feedback on what they have done.
- Review frequently.
Staying Up to Date
All our tutors are qualified teachers which allows us to have the most recent research in teaching and learning. We also completed additional further research in areas such as SEND and recall and retention. We also get regular updates from each exam board of any changes to their specification to make sure our resources are up to date.
Keeping It Simple
The Mathsplus method is to keep things simple, this allows us to focus on the key areas of learning – assess, teach, feedback, review. Although there are many versions of the Teaching and Learning Cycle, these steps run through the centre of them all. Being the fundamentals of learning these components map the journey for each Mathsplus student.
Updating the Team
When it comes to student progress, we believe that every student has a team – student, parents, and teacher. Mathsplus students have our tutors as additional members to their team, and we want to make sure the whole team is updated regularly on the students’ progress. This gives our students a strong rewarding environment both at home and school and allows everyone to see the progress that’s being made.
Mathsplus Timeline
Assess
Students complete a weekly mini assessments to highlight their current understanding and misconceptions. We then use this to direct students to certain lessons throughout the week focusing on topics highlighted as a weakness.
Teach
Depending on the plan, students will be able to access to a certain number of lessons and workbooks based on one of these highlighted topics. The learner can then complete the workbook anytime and can still ask for support through our online portal.
Feedback
Each week we will provide feedback and reports and will be able to explain where students might have missed marks and address any misconceptions.
Review
Learner then complete another weekly assessment to review previous topics to assure understanding, highlight any further misconceptions and address higher grade topics for further challenge.
